A single joint? Don’t the cops have something better to do than pick on the MTV ‘celebrity’? Isn’t there some redneck driving with an open beer in the next car over? Come on now…

I’ve never heard of him before this, honestly, but I must say… He’s got a pretty mugshot.

Okay, so listen. I realize that I’ve been absent for a long time now. It’s all explained pretty well here, if you’re truly interested. I’m not going to apologize, cause it was beyond my control. But I do have something to make up for my absence!

I decided that Sweet Leaf Tribune is not interactive enough. You guys don’t leave comments often, which is fine, but I’m hoping this will give you a little incentive to be more talkative? I installed a Message Board, which I’ve named the Speak Easy, and a WebCam Chat, which I’ve named The Cyph

I encourage everyone to join the Speak Easy… It’s got everything! Marijuana and Cannabis Culture, Medical Marijuana and Cultivation, All of Your Interests, and All About You, and more.

The Cyph is a little different. It’s required that you have a webcam to enter, and you must get on cam when you enter. There are other rules to read over there too, but basically we just don’t want to let any creepy stalkers or narcs in our Cyph, right?

Besides that, I actually wanted to start writing a few personal posts in the mix, cause I’m still shocked when I get emails asking me what my point of view on all of this is. If you read the About page, you’ll see that I do, in fact, smoke weed. I live in NY where it is illegal to do so, but I do it because I believe in it, and I do it because it helps me tremendously. I’ll write a whole separate post about that, but I have a quick story for you instead for now…

About an hour and a half ago, my friend came through and was trying to wake me up. He’s not allowed in my house, so his options are: Phone vs. Throwing Stones at My Window. I unhooked the Wireless Adapter out of the Desktop [I just got a new, sexy laptop!], so the telephone didn’t work…

I guess The Annoyances nurse was downstairs on the porch watching him throw stones at my window. I didn’t hear the first 5, I guess, but the last one definitely shocked me. He said all he saw was my pillow go flying from downstairs, which is funny cause that’s the pillow I sleep with over my head… So he was actually seeing me jump out of bed.

I asked him what he wanted. He said he was here to bring me a headset and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. The first book of the series. I asked him if he intended on chilling for a while too. I rushed downstairs and he said he really only had ten minutes, but he wanted to smoke a couple bowls.

It was the first official Wake-N-Bake I’ve had in a looong time. When I came back upstairs and told The Annoyance I was home, I was stumbling over my words. I was concentrating so hard on not saying “fuck” that it was coming out every other word instead. It was awful. Her nurse was laughing at me, cause I’d stop and apologize and The Annoyance would still yell at me. She was finally like “No, let her be. She’s really trying.” I was like “I’m not ready to exist yet. I need to go back to my room.”

I’m feeling more alive now, thankfully. I think my Hubby just got here, too… So I’m gonna jet.

It looks like Michael Jackson isn’t only the King of Pop, but also the King of Pot and several other drugs that should have landed him on Celebrity Rehab. First reported by Pop on the Pop, police discovered two bags of marijuana, a bottle of Restoril, a medication used to treat insomnia, and empty bottles of the sedatives Ativan and Valium.

According to unsealed search warrants, several empty, unlabeled drug bottles were also found in the home shortly after his death. A search warrant served four days after Jackson’s death also states that “family members of the decedent notified Los Angeles County Coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter that they had located a quantity of tar heroin in Jackson’s bedroom on the second floor of the residence. Winter notified LAPD detectives of the found evidence.”

It later turned out that the substance was not heroin, but he still had enough drugs in his house to have a pretty rockin’ party.

In 1994, Grunge phenomenon Nirvana’s lead singer, Kurt Cobain, died of what is usually rumored to be a heroin overdose. At the time of his death, a bit of his ashes were scattered in a Buddhist temple in New York and the Wishkah River in Washington, but the rest of them were kept in the Los Angeles home of his widow, Courtney Love.

Earlier this year, the ashes of Cobain were stolen from the home, and now a German artist, Barmy Natascha Stellmach, plans to smoke the ashes mixed in a joint with marijuana. Stellmach won’t reveal how she came into possession of the ashes, but, according to this article, when asked why she plans to smoke them, she states that it’s to release him “into the ether from the media circus.”

Smoking peoples’ ashes is the most vile thing I’ve ever heard of. What even makes people think of these things? Personally, I think this woman watched How High a few too many times.

The events surrounding Kurt Cobain’s death are going to keep him in the “media circus” for years to come, and there’s nothing Stellmach or anyone else can do about it.

Twilight’s Kristen Stewart was recently photographed smoking a bowl on her front porch. The Internet has been crazy the past few days with people speculating about it… I figured it was time to put in my two cents.

Leave the poor girl alone, for Christ’s sake! She’s an eighteen year old in California. It’s okay for everyone to gather on Hippie Hill and smoke bongs all day, but this girl can’t sit on her front porch and toke a tiny bowl? Why? Because it doesn’t make her a good role model?

Bullshit. Millions of people smoke pot – tons of celebrities included (Johnny Depp, Charlize Theron, Bruce Willis, Demi Moore, I could go on for days…) – and it doesn’t make them any less human.

So what if it’s illegal? There are only 13 states that prescribe marijuana, legally, as a medication. That hasn’t stopped anyone in the other 37 states, has it? (Go ahead and act like you’ve never smoked pot before.) You’re only making a big deal out of it because she’s newly famous.

Get off her back. Let her make her own decisions. She’s a big girl; I’m sure she can deal with the consequences.

Tell Congress it is time for a new bottom line in U.S. drug policy, one that focuses on reducing the problems associated with both drugs and the war on drugs. Take action at drugpolicy.org.

Remember the movie Super Size Me with Morgan Spurlock? Well, me neither. No matter – there’s a new movie out that will likely take it’s place. It’s called Super High Me, and it stars comedian Doug Benson.

According to the website:

Super High Me [...] explores the current situation with medical marijuana in California and the United States, specifically focusing on the conflict between federal and state law and the explosive growth in medical marijuana dispensaries in Los Angeles over the past two years.

As part of his journey, Doug smokes, eats and vaporizes medical marijuana for thirty consecutive days in order to get “Super High.” But there is a catch–first Doug must go thirty days without any marijuana and undertakes a number of tests, completing the same tests while medicated and while sober, in an effort to find out what marijuana does and how it really affects people.

The movie was released on April 11th, but is only out in select theaters on the West Coast. The DVD won’t come out until June, but if you’ve got some free space, you’re in luck! There will be free screenings of the film held all over the country (most on April 20th) – You can even host your own!

Unfortunately the closest screening to me is about an hour away and I definitely don’t have any free space to hold my own, so I’ll have to wait until June to see it. If you’re lucky enough to live close to a screening, I can’t urge you enough to check it out. I’m really psyched about it.

I’m not usually one to write about celebrity gossip, but I have to make an exception this time. I’ve been searching for the right article to ease my way into writing about marijuana, and I think I’ve finally found just that:

A new strand of Medical Marijuana recently started being marketed under the name “Tom Cruise Purple.” The vials of marijuana are being sold with a picture of Cruise laughing hysterically, but he doesn’t find anything funny about it.

As a Scientologist, Cruise doesn’t believe in drug use. According to an article in the NY Daily News, “the actor’s lawyers are taking a serious look at the strong brand of bud after we brought it to their attention.”

Several California clinics were questioned about the strain, and though most refused to discuss the details of their inventory, there was one who stated “it’s the kind of pot that makes you hallucinate.”

I think this is both awesome and hilarious. I’ve smoked a lot of pot in my day, but none has ever made me hallucinate. I think Tom Cruise should chill out and be happy that such an honor? has been bestowed upon him. Maybe sparking up a bowl of his namesake would do him some good!
