A wise man once said, “They say marijuana leads to other drugs. No it doesn’t, it leads to fucking carpentry.” And Mr. Leary, let me tell you, you’re absolutely right!

Every stoner has done it — Leave the house and forget your pipe, run out of papers without realizing it, or worse – break your pipe and not have a replacement handy. What do you do then?

There are several solutions, but for our first tutorial, we’re going to make a bowl out of tin foil. Before we start, let me say this: This is not the best idea for a pipe, and it’s definitely not something you want to use every time you smoke (Aluminum has been linked to Alzheimer’s,) but it’s quick and easy and okay to use every once in a while when you don’t have anything else handy. Everyone always has tin foil, right? Right. Let’s get started…

What you’ll need:
Tin foil
Something long, fat, and round (Like a permanent marker.)
Something small and sharp (Like a thumb tack.)


Step 1
Step 1: Cut a piece of tin foil about six inches long (And as wide as it comes in the box.)
Turn it so the shiny side is facing away from you.

Step 2

Step 2 & 3: Fold in the edges, long-ways, about 2 inches on each side.

Step 4: Wrap the tin foil tightly around the marker (Or whatever else you’re using.)

Step 5: …Keep wrapping…

Step 6: Once the tin foil is completely wrapped, twist the marker in your hand to tighten it more and make it stay put.

Step 7: Take the marker out. (Be careful you don’t flatten the tin foil!)

Step 8: Make a small tin foil square.

Step 9
Step 9: Poke holes in the square with your thumb tack.

Step 10
Step 10: Make sure there are enough holes all over the square.

Step 11: Form the square into some sort of bowl like shape. I shaped it around my pinky finger. (This is your screen.)

Step 12: Go back to your long tin foil wrap and bend the bottom inch or so up. (This is your bowl.)

Step 13: Stick the screen inside the bowl.

Step 14: Push it in far enough to make sure it’s in there securely and that no weed can sneak past.

Step 15: Pack it up and smoke it! [I don't have any weed, so this picture is kind of cheating, but you get the idea.]
