Remember the movie Super Size Me with Morgan Spurlock? Well, me neither. No matter – there’s a new movie out that will likely take it’s place. It’s called Super High Me, and it stars comedian Doug Benson.
According to the website:
Super High Me [...] explores the current situation with medical marijuana in California and the United States, specifically focusing on the conflict between federal and state law and the explosive growth in medical marijuana dispensaries in Los Angeles over the past two years.
As part of his journey, Doug smokes, eats and vaporizes medical marijuana for thirty consecutive days in order to get “Super High.” But there is a catch–first Doug must go thirty days without any marijuana and undertakes a number of tests, completing the same tests while medicated and while sober, in an effort to find out what marijuana does and how it really affects people.
The movie was released on April 11th, but is only out in select theaters on the West Coast. The DVD won’t come out until June, but if you’ve got some free space, you’re in luck! There will be free screenings of the film held all over the country (most on April 20th) – You can even host your own!
Unfortunately the closest screening to me is about an hour away and I definitely don’t have any free space to hold my own, so I’ll have to wait until June to see it. If you’re lucky enough to live close to a screening, I can’t urge you enough to check it out. I’m really psyched about it.
